Professor Oyelowo Oyewo (SAN)

Oyelowo Oyewo graduated from the University of Ife with a Bachelor of Laws degree and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982. In pursuit of postgraduate studies, he attended the University of Lagos and obtained a Master of Laws degree in 1984. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, and obtained a Master of Laws degree in 1990. Thereafter he was admitted to the State Bar of California, USA, in 1991.  He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation; Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria; and Fellow of the Bankruptcy Recovery and Insolvency Practitioner of Nigeria.  

His career has taken him through several public and private institutions including: The Federal Ministry of Justice; Hatcher, Coaxum, Hewitt, Grimes & Manning, Los Angeles, USA; University of Lagos, Nigeria; and most recently he served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Oyo State (2019-2023). 

He is a Professor of Public Law and a legal consultant on constitutional, administrative, governance and development law. He elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2020, and a current member of Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN). Professionally, he has served in the following professional positions: a member of the Body of Benchers, member of the Counsel of Legal Education, member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Advance Legal Studies, member of Body of Attorneys General of the Federation; and member (and Chairman) of the South-West Attorneys General Group (SWAG). 

He has served on the Board of Lafarge Cement, WAPCO Cement (Nigeria) Plc, Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja, Agric International Technology and Trade (Agrited) (Nigeria) Ltd., Glanville Enthoven (Insurance Brokers) Ltd, and currently serves on the board of some companies and institutions. 

Professor Oyelowo Oyewo (SAN) leads the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, and the Energy and Power Law units of the Firm’s practice.
